National Trust Day Out #1

Last August we got ourselves a National Trust membership. Whilst at the time this felt seriously middle aged we’ve had some really lovely days out as a result of it! The National Trust ticks the things that we both love; history for me and outdoors for Jonny.

Our most recent trip out courtesy of our membership was to Acorn Bank and Sizergh Castle in search of daffodils. Here are a few shots from our day. My favourite part of Acorn Bank was definitely the variety of fairy doors and houses they had scattered in amongst the trees.

Sizergh Castle won for being daffodil-tastic though.

We’re currently planning a summer camping trip to Devon and Cornwall (where we’ll try to squeeze in some National Trust based days out!)

Which National Trust properties are near you that we should visit?

  1. Daffodil-tastic indeed! I do love those fairy doors and houses though.

Wales has some beautiful NT properties. I’ve not been to any in north Wales but have worked at a few in the south; Dinefwr and Dyffryn Gardens are my favourites. We look after the Gower and much of the Pembrokeshire Coast too which are stunning but a bit out of the way for you.

If you’re heading Cornwall & Devon way, Barrington Court, Montacute House and Tyntesfield are lovely and will be en route, I think. All a nice mix of history and gardens/outdoors.

My absolute favourite NT property is Stourhead in Wiltshire. x

    1. Oooh, thank you! They sound great. I’ll definitely do some research once I’m back from camping! I’d love to do a holiday to Wales at some point too! x

  2. I got my first NT membership a few years ago and it was the best thing ever! I don’t care if that makes me old and sad, I love going for a nosy around all these amazing properties.
