This weekend I hosted a baby shower for my friend Kirsty. Her little one is due at the end of this month and I am beyond excited to meet him/her! The fact that she hasn’t found out the baby’s sex is making the wait even more exciting!
I found it a little tricky initially, as I didn’t know if she was having a girl or a boy. In the end I decided to go with pink and blue décor, with some cute yellow polka dot plates (no mummy to be wants to be washing up after her baby shower!)
I decided to go with an afternoon tea party theme and baked button biscuits, chocolate cupcakes, chocolate dipped strawberries (I also got the dad to be and my own mum to help out on the baking front!)
Using my grandparents’ vintage tea cups and saucers we set about enjoying all the sweet goodies with plenty of non-alcoholic drinks.
I’d made bunting for the baby’s nursery as part of my gift and used that to help decorate, alongside some baby sock bunting (baby socks are the most ridiculously cute items of clothing in existence!)
Another friend of Kirsty’s stepped in with some amazing baby shower games (I’d seriously struggled to find anything that wasn’t either horrific or hugely Americanised!)
I’m fairly sure everyone had a good time and the mummy to be was thoroughly spoiled. Now all we have to do is wait for Baby Wilko to arrive!
Note to self, though, TAKE YOUR CAMERA OUT WITH YOU! Then there’ll be more evidence of my crafty handiwork!
